The image is tinged with brown - but what do you expect for little money? The carrying case is good - you can take it in the field with you.
If you see this in a charity shop for £2, then I probably gave it away. I would not buy again!
A much better purchase is "Natural History Museum Pocket Microscope" also available on Amazon, which I bought at same time.

This pocket microscope started off looking quite useable for the price, but after using it for a while found that if held at a certain angle the lense just falls to the bottom. The only thing you can do is hold the wheel that focuses it, but one slip and you have to refocus. I dont think the unit is faulty, its just the way its made. It feels solid, and the build of it is adequate, but this problem makes it very tricky unless your using it standing straight up. I would suggest paying a little extra and getting something better made.

This is a brilliant tool to view your world from a completely different level.
Unfortunately, the light on the one I bought would not work until my brother managed to reattach something inside, as it had arrived broken, so I had to wait a while. Nevertheless, the amazing magnifying power of this microscope makes up for the fact that the light had not worked and also I have to admit I would not have sent this back anyway because I was enjoying this new world too much.

This is a low cost, but still effective device. The field of view is smaller than I would like and the lenses are plastic. Read more
