Book Description

26 Sep 1996
In the beginning, Shadow Point was the tallest, most magnificent tower block anyone had ever seen. But soon the shining concrete began to crack and the gleaming windows became grimy and dull. Into this colourless decay comes Mercedes Ice, Crown Prince of Shadow Point, with an impossible demand: colour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, for everyone 9 Mar 2002

This short masterpiece is not just a children's book. I don't waste my time with kiddie books like the Potter series but this is a different ball game. Set in any urban sprawl this is a story of love, endurance and life. The illustrations are marvellous and the characters true to life. There's a genuine sadness at the heart of the book which is beautifully put to rest by the end. Read it!!

I read this as a child and wanted my boyfriends little boy to read it. I bought it along with meteorite spoon and they came together. Well packaged and in good condition despite being used.

Mercedes ice is quite good book because it's imagnative.Mercedes ice is a little boy which was born by a lady called Rosie Ice. Rosie Ice used to be called Rosie Glow who got married to a boy called Timothy Ice who was born on the same day and same time as Rosie Glow. There was a very tall building being built when they were little infact it was the tallest building in the world. It had thirty-four floors. Rosie and Timothy Ice wanted to live together on the thirty-fourth floor. Timothy died by a rat chasing him up the floors and then Rosie had a baby called Mercedes and her next door neighbour called Hilda Sparkle had a baby Hickory Sparkle and thats how the story goes full of fun and imagination, but I won't tell you the end that would spoil it.
