More About the Author

Hi there, my name is Bernd. I grew up in the 1950s and 1960s in Northern Germany. My interest in anything automotive started already at a very young age with visits to the Nürburgring with my dad. I also grew up with Mercedes cars in my family and an uncle of mine, who had a small collection of pre-war cars, introduced me at the end of the 1960s to vintage cars. That virus never left me again, so from the mid 1970s I started collecting vintage cars myelf. Naturally my first such car was a Mercedes, a rather neglected prewar 170V Cabriolet B. Later additions were from a 200D fintail, 250SE, 350SL, 300d Adenauer and a 280SE 3.5 Coupe. Mercedes cars became a passion I have kept and further developed throughout the years.

My other weakness revolves around British cars, here especially Alvis and Jaguar. I have collected an Alvis TC 21/100 Grey Lady Tickford DHC from 1954, in which I have traveled extensively and a few Jaguar saloons. Among them a 420G and a more modern Daimler XJ40, which I thoroughly enjoyed for many years as reliable and most comfortable means of transportation.

I am a owner and fan of the w100 600 Grosser. This book provides a very nice overview the car and it's history. Considering that the limited edition book that covers the history of the 600 is bringing in excess of $250 if you can find a copy, this book is a great deal and nice to have as an electronic version.

I already read the e-book on the R107, as I am prepping to buy one of these classics, and I was certainly most delighted to read further on the W100 as one of its famous predecessors. This is a car with a great history, and I did not realize that there was so much to know about it, for such a 'kind' price ... Great book, thanks !
