Product Description

Give your brain a workout on the type of brainteasers that challenge the best solvers at the World Puzzle Championships. They're tough, but fun, and the feeling of satisfaction you get when you succeed is simply unbeatable. Some of the puzzles are oldies but goodies, like battleships - and its many variants - where you search for a fleet hidden within a grid. In "Eminent Domain," try to determine which blanks cells are owned by the numbered ones. For "Hex Loops," locate a path that travels through adjacent hexagons: the trick is, it has to end where it started, and the lines can't touch or cross. From Snaky Tiles to Spiral Galaxies, these Mensa-level conundrums will get your mind in shape. About MENSA:- Mensa is the internationally renowned high IQ society which has a worldwide membership of almost 100,000 members in more than 100 countries. There are 28,000 members in the UK, including 2,200 Junior Mensans under the age of 16. To join Mensa, the only requirement for membership is that an individual's IQ falls within the top 2 per cent of the population.

Great 9 May 2009
By Maz
Format:Spiral-bound
Excellent variety of logic puzzles, with enough examples of each to develop good techniques for the puzzle type, without getting repetitive and very good accuracy.

Great puzzle book 3 Jun 2010
Format:Spiral-bound
Before I bought it I would only occasionally solve sudoku in the newspaper. Once the book arrived, for the first week, I'd spend at least 2h solving puzzles every evening. Some of them are fairly straightforward and easy, for others it takes awhile to figure out an algorithm, few cases are just plainly difficult, but all of them amazingly addictive. Great learning curve. All in all, this book is perfect for everyone to move from labyrinths on backs of cereal boxes to way more interesting stuff.

The book contains 21 different types of grid-based puzzles, some with multiple variants and sizes. 371 in total. All of the puzzles can be solved by logic, reasoning and deduction (despite the title of the book only simple math skills are required).

I had to ration the book so I did not solved all the puzzles in one (long) session and lose my sleep.

Highly recommended.

Sudoku variants anyone?
I have never done a sudoku puzzle, as I can't see the point. A quick flick through this book gives the immediate impression of a bunch of sudoku-like puzzles. Read more

Good brain teaser. Very difficult and only suitable to people used to doing puzzles in a big way. Good value for the price.
