Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
I bought the Mensa Brain Trainer for my 81 year old father because he has short term memory problems and items like this are recommended. Most of the functions are okay, but when using the basic maths setting, the answers are in bold, but the questions are so faint you can hardly read them and it's nearly impossible to read which mathematical symbol is being shown, so you can't do the sums. Had this item been equipped with a light-up screen, it would have been much easier to use. The instructions are simpler to follow than other items like this that I've purchased, however, I don't feel that the makers have taken the elderly into consideration as much as they should. Failing eyesight and deafness, (Game 5), are common problems for many people.

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
I note the complaints about the figures for the basic maths. For some reason it is quite easy to get it wrong but later games that rely on the larger figures and numbers are much clearer.

A good little game. I am only on the easy sections so far but for the money very good value.

I will be practising until I get good at all of them so it may well be a lifetimes's work.

I have only done the first five games but it has kept me on my toes. I have had to read the instructions for each game and once you understand it they are very logical. I am a word person and have a horror of numbers so it is good for me.

Brilliant present 16 July 2009
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
My partner and I bought the Brain Trainer as a quirky fathers day present as both our fathers have recently hit 60. After the giggles both parents are now addicted and are reaping the benefits. It really is helping with memory and reaction/response time. Im even considering getting one myself now for the challenge.

Don't bother ordering
I have scored this game OK based on what it looked like. Since it arrived without the stylus, it could not be used and so I don't know how educational or fun it could be! Read more

Disappointed!
Bought this for Christmas for my husband who is 73 years old. I was therefore very disappointed when it arrived without the pen, which is obviously very necessary! Read more

poor visibility
We found the instructions a little difficult, the screen is almost illegible to us and it made using the machine quite difficult. Not a good purchase unfortunately

Very useful, but room for improvement for next version
The price point is just what I was after, and the basic arithmetic game is the reason why I bought it - with practice it will be very good for getting my brain to work quicker. Read more
