I got this book in the run up to Christmas looking to revive my gym routines. It has helped me get out of a training rut and improved my rugby so thought I should spread the word!

The first section of the book covers the basics of weight training and nutrition. These are much more concise and readable than other books on the market and provide a good summary of how to get the most out of your workouts. The nutrition section is excellent and I'm sure this is because the author is a qualified medic. The book is then split into three programmes - mass gain, fat burn and maintenance. The programmes are easy to follow, nicely illustrated and well explained; helping you choose the routine to meet your training goals.

I've been following this system for two months now and have noticed some big gains at the gym and in my physique! I'm also less tired when playing rugby and other sports and I'm sure this is down to getting my nutrition right.

This book is perfect both for boosting your gym performance and for the beginner. It should be on everyone's shelf - or better still in your gym bag!

I just felt I had to add a few comments...

Depending on what you want: Mass, Lean or actually losing weight it is very clear and actually works...

Simple..... If you want that, do what it says in this book... Its spot on, and damn does he know what he is talking about...

Dont waste your time and effort on the others, trust me I have over the years...

Good luck and train hard..

I've been training for a long time now and found myself plateauing all the time. Reading the same repetitive magazines and websites. I've never really found myself getting my goals except from now.

I've only been following Dr Evan's book for a short time and I'm already seeing the results. He cuts things down to basics and addresses all the facets of weight training, from food, sleep, and different types of training.

All of which don't need fancy equipment which are only available in Gold's Gym in the USA!!

It's great to get training tips from a medical trained body builder. I would advise this book to all people no matter what stage of trainer you are.

Looking forward to his next book with eager anticipation......
