Astonishingly well remastered considering the 1930 recording age, and superb vocals of Isobel Baillee (and others). Elijah has been a favourite of mine for many years, and apart from the excellent vocals / chorus / orchestra on this 2-cd set, there is a more pronounced organ element than in more recent recordings, which I particularly like. Although this is described as the earliest complete recording, it is not as complete as later recordings, but near enough. Overall it is superb, even taking account of the mono and the occasional crackles. If this were a new stereo DDD recording with this cast it would be unbeatable (unless Felix himself was conducting!). You probably can see that I am not a music expert, but I listen to what I enjoy, and I certainly enjoy listening to this recording.
