Had this recording on LP many years ago but unfortunately mislaid it. Superb playing from a young Anne-Sophie Mutter and sympathetic conducting from Karajan. The sound quality on this remastered recording is excellent as one would expect from Deutsche Grammophon. This CD is a must for anyone who loves the violin and these two wonderful concertos.

THESE TWO CONCERTOS ARE SO BEAUTIFUL AND SO MOVING AND JUST WONDERFUL TO LISTEN TO - TEAR JERKERS! THE VIOLIST GIVES A BEAUTIFUL INTERPRETATION OF THE MUSIC - A REAL JOY TO RELAX AND LISTEN TO. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. THE CD'S I PURCHASED ARE A CHRISTMAS GIFT TO MY SON AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW WHO LIKE ME, LOVE BEAUTIFL MUSIC.

I don't know what else to say apart from the above. An amazing album, the compilers have really done well with this - the musicians it goes without saying are superb! The The Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 by Mendelssohn are probably the best know of his Concertos, as is the Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26 by Bruch. The Bruch Concerto is closely linked here to the Mendelssohn Concerto probably because it uses several techniques that Mendelsson employed.
