5.0 out of 5 stars More genius! 28 May 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I am a real fan of the original Men of War.

This sequel is even more difficult even on normal settings - you really need to be strategic and to use all the accessories and options - the most important of which is the control of individual soldiers, tanks and guns etc.. you can take over viruially unit and operate it individually including using a superb individual aiming/targeting system.

You are really part of something bigger but still have influence on the outcome. Very absorbing and full of little touches that make it a very different game - your own tanks are always getting shot up so you have to repair them... and then you find you can repair and take over enemy tanks and guns - indeed the outcome of some battles depends on it!!

Varied missions and all sorts of clever touches make this a truly outstanding RTS WW2 game - it's well coded with only the odd stupidity glitch that you'd probably get from soldiers in real life. Highly recommended if you want to be completely absorbed!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best RTS goes on 13 Aug 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
After finishing Men of War I was stuck for something else to play that would be any where near as satisfying, so for a few months I returned to my xbox (yes......) playing COD online. Finally there came an expansion, but being a cheapskate I waited for it to reduce to a tenner or thereabouts before taking the plunge.
It was a plunge worth taking and even though I'm only through to the fourth mission I thought I'd belt out a review. Basically it plays the same as Men of War, although the boat action can be a bit dubious, and has the same great attention to detail and good enemy AI. I am thoroughly hooked and can't put it down when I start playing, hours rolling by like minutes.
Although I don't know if it is as good as the original, cos that was brilliant, it still deserves an 8 out of 10 as far as I'm concerned. Fantastic world war 2 action with historical information released along the way so you can actually learn a little about the theatre it is attempting to model. I found myself getting so wrapped up in it that I started cursing when my assaults went wrong and my elite troops mown down by gpmg's and tanks etc. It seems harder to steal tanks in this version than men of war, but that's no bad thing, it just means the difficulty is ramped up a little. If you liked Blitzkrieg (pants compared to this), sudden strike, desert rats et al, then you must buy this - you won't regret it, especially at £12.
Long may IC continue to give us such meticulously created gaming delights....

I am a big fan of the men of war series, although I thought 'faces of war' was poor. But this game, like 'men of war' is loaded with great game play. If you like WW2 rts and 'men of war' then this is for you. I hope the publishers keep the series going as it is so much fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good but not strategy 30 Jun 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This is a very good ww2 squad based wargame, based on a neglected campaign(at least in the west). I was personally looking for something more strategic. It is attractive to look at and controls are not too complicated(for someone used to wargames). You can micromanage as much as you like which will please a few control nuts. Worth having if you like up close and personal squad based wargames.

3.0 out of 5 stars men of war red tide. 25 Sep 2011

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
i brought this game because i own the original and loved it. my personal opinion of this game is that it doesnt match up to its original.yes the graphics are great yes the game play is great but i cant help feeling theres something missing .i feel some missions are too short and theres not enough armored units.the first few missions give you units with little armor to fight with.there are some good aditions like the costal guns.i would still put this game above others in its category but unlike the original i dont think i'll be playing it over and over.i cannot wait to play the third in the series and i hope this is not the last.keep them coming i love playing these games.i would love too be able to capture enemy buildings and then be able too build your very own tiger tanks or weapons.

5.0 out of 5 stars GOOD WAR GAME 1 Jun 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The war game was very good as I expected. I have nothing bad to say about it. I found that it was hard to play due to my trying to be too clever at first, but that was my fault not the games.

A very difficult game to take beyond a certain point. I cannot recommend it to anyone. It needs to be made much more playable.
