Book Description

26 April 2007

Fast, hard-hitting, funny and honest, this is the book that answers the question that all women discuss every day: 'Where are the interesting and available men?' Forget the fiction. This is not self help or a dating manual - This is 'Men!' - controversial, sassy and very entertaining - Michael Moore meets real life Bridget Jones.

Bestselling author Isabel Losada throws herself (literally) into all male environments to learn about how different 'Men!' are from women. From learning to be a plumber and riding a Harley to interviewing psychologists and dating hosts, every page will have readers smiling and learning about 'Men!' and about themselves. How do you define an 'interesting' man? (or women?) How are male and female brains different? What do the richest men in the city and the builders on the building sites want of women?

This is not a book for women who think that finding a man is the solution to their problems; rather it is an intelligent, controversial and often hilarious journey through modern life and relationships by a unique and well-loved author.

Product Description

Review

Candid, thought-provoking, sassy and very very funny. (Daily Telegraph )

Losada plays at being a real life Bridget Jones on the hunt for 'real' men. Her search takes her from building sites to the City trading floors as she tries to understand the male psyche via info from psycholigists and dating experts. Think Michael Moore meets 'Men are from Mars' only a lot funnier. (Glamour Magazine )

Isabel Losada has achieved the perfect combination of humour, poignancy and intellectual rigour. (The Statesmen )

Searching and Honest. (The Independent on Sunday )

A very entertaining romp around a very modern mystery (Daily Express )

Book Description

A funny, sassy, unconventional take on modern dating

5.0 out of 5 stars Original, funny and so true 28 May 2007
Format:Paperback
I'm recommending this book to all my friends, whether single or not. It's fresh, realistic, very funny and comes up with some fantastic insights into why men and women don't see things the same way in relationships. Isabel Losada goes well beyond the obvious places in her exhaustive search for available men (who, it turns out, are not the same as single men). Plus, it must be said, her necessary trials of dating sites and singles events are spot on - carbon copies of my own experiences in fact - and I found it difficult not to laugh out-loud in recognition, while reading Men! on the tube. Anyone who is fed up with being single and wondering why they never meet anyone half decent will get a whole different perspective by reading this. If you concentrate on having adventures and doing the things you love, you may just meet someone along the way, but in the meantime you'll be enjoying Life, not moping about waiting for that fictitious perfect man. I was bursting with positive energy by the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous book and relevant to EVERYONE! 26 April 2007
Format:Paperback
like james i am absolutely engrossed in isabels book at the moment, its a fascinating, poignant, hilariously funny and wonderful read. im a lesbian so picked it up thinking it wouldnt be hugely relevant to me but seeing as i loved 'battersea park' and 'a beginners guide' i wanted to see what isabel had been up to next and i must say it IS relevant to EVERYONE who lives and breathes. its an absolute joy to read and utterly absorbing, be prepared to read it from cover to cover so start it when you've got a free couple of days! isabel losada is an author who never fails to deliver and inspire, i now want to ride a harley davidson and go diving in egypt(...i may even give plumbing a go!) but i'll give internet dating and singles night a miss for now!

As a long-time Isabel Losada fan - I've read all her books - the wait for this tome was too long. She's done it again, explored an occasionally depressing/worrying topic with wit and verve. She loves men, but sometimes struggles with understanding them, don't we all? From plumbing to diving, scientists to speed-dating, she covers the bases. Where are the interesting and available men aged between 35 and 55? It's an enthralling book; I dashed through a speed-read and am now taking my time and savouring her writing. Well done Isabel, the struggle was worth it. Incidentally, her evening in Cardiff was great fun. Look on her website www.isabellosada.com for more events and adventures. Bravo! A must-read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm and funny
A warm and funny book that seriously attempts to tackle the social phenomenon that is so many single women, particularly in their forties or older, and so few available men.
