5.0 out of 5 stars Good memories ! 6 Jan 2006

Format:Audio CD
What an album ! If you want to hear the raw sound of a fender Stratocaster as it SHOULD be heard, then listen to this. Awesome. But that isn't all. Mr Kilzer comes up trumps with some truly amazing songwriting. The best thing is, he seems to be writing well within the boundaries of his ability. He wraps the deep lyrics effortlessly round the southern blues-rock onslaught to create some truly energetic melodies. Don't miss out on this one, you will be amazed. This album was recored and mixed digitally, so the sound quality is out of this world.

Simply an awesome album by an artiste who deserves a whole lot more than most of the crap the British media shoves our noses in. Easily the album Bryan Adams should have made after Restless instead of becoming Def Leppard.
Superb songs, very well sung with some to-die-for Strat playing

5.0 out of 5 stars Go on, treat yourself... 10 Feb 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
John Kilzer should be a superstar, mentioned in the same breath as Tom Petty and especially Bryan Adams. I have loved this album since I first clapped ears on it in the late 80's. Finally getting hold of it on CD, the years have not dimished the quality of the songwriting and the playing. The obvious reference point is Bryan Adams circa Reckless but you can pick out influence of blue collar rockers like John Mellancamp and even Mark Knopfler in some of that fine guitar playing.

If you like mainstream rock you should own a copy of this record and we can finally make Mr Kilzer the star he should have been 25 years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Poetic Rock 2 Jun 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I have seen John Kilzer perform live over 100 times in the Memphis / Little Rock area. This album is his first and is the most "driving" album he has released. He is a true song writer and artist. He has one other album called "Busman's Holiday" that is out of print and very hard to get. It is more "trippy" than Memory in the Making. It features Bruce Hornsby on Keys and Robby Blunt (Robert Plant Band) on Guitar. Both albums are must haves and if you ever get a chance to see him live either by himself of with a full band, you really need to go. He is definately a real song writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect blend of hard rock, blues, and pop with great lyrics 27 Feb 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Kilzer's first release in 1988 was a perfect blend of hard rock, blues, and pop stylings. Two songs, "Memory in the Making" and "Red Blue Jeans" saw regular rotation regionally and nationally upon the album's debut. Produced by Ardent Studios' John Hampton(Tommy Keene, Gin Blossoms), "Memory" was rich in lyrical depth deftly delivered by John's Memphis growl. This man knows how to deliver a soulful pop hook without dipping into the usual cliches. The players on this recording are outstanding, most notably guitarist Jack Holder. This album will stick to your ears and not let go. I still find "Memory" in the bins at used C.D. stores and occasionally at Blockbuster and Tower. Look hard, you'll find him. Also recommended: Kilzer's second album, "Busman's Holiday." Similar artists: BoDeans, Colin James, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp.
