Format:Audio CD
This anthology will also see a book and a dvd with the same title coming early next year. The film is being premiered this month. You can see details on Stephen's internet sites. Many fans of Stephen Duffy and the Lilac Time will have most of the tracks on this collection except for the brilliant title track and the newest (and final?) reworking of kiss me with your mouth, which is growing on me - but I liked the 1985 version!
The tracks are accompanied by a booklet with lyrics but more importantly with musings from the man himself which more than justify the price tag (it is really cheap for what you get anyway). It is quite hard to get information about the man and his thoughts and feelings about the songs so this is golddust!
The tracks chosen are slower and not obvious ones that a singles collection would give, instead we are treated to thoughtful (wistful and melancholy at times) lyrics and wonderful tunes. As such I would say a perfect Autumn collection that can be listened to all year round.
The sound quality is good, the music is wonderful and the inspiration is to go and listen to the whole back catalogue again.
Stephen Duffy - you are a genius who it has been my pleasure to share the wilderness with for the last 24 years and I hope that you continue to produce music for many years to come, already Runout Groove is certainly in my all time top 10!!

Its so annoying when you sit down to post a review only to find that you've been pipped to the post ! Sadly (for me ) that's what's happened as Andrew Green has pretty much said it all about this wonderful release . Stephen Duffy writes , plays ands sings some of the most beautiful songs you'll ever hear , he's one of the countrys hidden treasures and deserves more recognition .
Oh and you , Stephen Duffy , how the hell can you leave out Jeans&Summer , In Iverna Gardens , A Taste For Honey , So Far Away , We Used To Be So ..... God , how great must it feel to have written so many wondrous delights .
PS it must have cost a pretty penny to bring the sculptor from Lionel Ritchies "Hello" video out of retirment to do the cover though :)!!

Am fairly new to his music having only heard a couple of albums previously (was put off in part by the Duran Duran and Robbie Williams connections) so this is an ideal starting place for the uninitiated. There is a lovely relaxed feel to this. Very English and folky without being folk music as such. The melodies will linger for days.
