Product Description

Book Description

Memories of Singapore and Malaya during the 1950s, 1960s and
1970s through the eyes of members of the Forces and their families.

From the Back Cover

I was pleased that my previous book about my childhood in
Singapore and Malaya, 'Sampans, Banyans and Rambutans', rekindled so many
people's memories of the happy times they spent there during the
1950s,1960s and 1970s.
I heard from people all over the world, all with memories and stories of
their own, which I've collected together in this book.
They include stories and photos from servicemen, as well as from their
children, and I hope that they will give a real flavour of what it was like
to live there at the time. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I
enjoyed putting it together.

Useful Time Warp 25 Mar 2009
Format:Paperback
This had useful photos and descriptions of a Singapore now gone - the British Armed Forces experience. But it is a rather bland account of the good life in the Far East with no exploration of how Singapore was transforming around the British bases - and why Empire ways were drawing to an end.
