4.0 out of 5 stars Memories of Us 17 July 2008
By Kelly - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Celia St John is an investigator for the district attorney's office, and so damn attracted to her boss, Tom McMillan, she could barely stand to be around him. Of course he had no clue. To him, she was just an employee. Everyone knew he still harbored deep feelings for his ex wife. Just being around them, any moron could see how he reacted to Kathleen's presence. She just wished that he would show that type of feeling for her, but it wasn't in the cards. Tom had always been attracted to his lead investigator, but was afraid to go through the hurt of another loss, so he hid behind the memories of the past.

When Celia had a weak moment, and propositioned Tom, she thought they might have a chance at something special, but he couldn't get away from her fast enough. Although both frightened, when they could no longer deny the sexual tension between them, they gave into their lust with combustible results. Celia could not believe how involved in her life he had become, and his importance to her grew every day. Tom was feeling the same way, and though it shocked him how much he needed to be with her, he wasn't going to let anyone or anything ruin it.

Just as Tom and Celia were starting to get their relationship on track, a routine homicide investigation Celia and partner Cook were working on turned their world upside down. Someone Tom had previously slept with had made a video of them having sex, and further damning evidence was that she was pregnant with a baby possibly matching Tom's blood type. He was now the chief suspect in a murder case. When Cook found out she was involved with the DA, she was relieved of her duties on the case. He didn't feel she could be objective any longer. When events took a horrific turn with Celia as the target, and shaking her to the core, Tom just hoped they could survive long enough to enjoy some of their newfound happiness.

I am liking this series more and more with each new book. Hearts of the South book number five didn't disappoint. Celia and Tom are both broken souls having to survive the painful loss of someone they loved desperately. What started as friendship with a heavy dose of respect, their story evolves into one that will tug at the heartstrings. Tom and Celia are characters written so well you will identify with them, cry with them, and cheer for them to conquer all. Great sexy read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Memories of Us- A Joyfully Recommended Title 13 Aug 2008
By M. Nix - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
An investigator for the district attorney's office, Celia St. John knows that the attraction to her boss, Tom McMillian, is a hopeless cause. However, when she realizes that Tom is also attracted to her, she agrees to a no strings affair knowing that there is no future for them. Tom is still in love with his ex-wife and mourning the child they lost, even though she has already remarried and is having another child. But when Celia starts investigating a black market baby ring, her life is put in danger. Regardless of how conflicted his feelings for Celia are, Tom is determined to do whatever it takes to protect the woman who has brought feelings back to life in him.

There hasn't been one book of Linda Winfree's Hearts of the South series that I haven't loved and Memories of Us is no exception. Tom and Celia grabbed me from the first page and visits from old favorites from earlier stories give added depth to the story. A series not to be missed, readers can't go wrong with Memories of Us and all the others in the fabulous series!
