Product Description

Product Description

Boris Temple-Parsons is an ostrich. Finding himself unexpectedly suspended from the medical practice where he works as a GP, he decides to fill these three months by writing his memoirs. As the memoirs expand to include the chaotic events taking place around him, it becomes obvious to the reader that his wife Bar is having an affair and his children are leading secret lives of which Boris knows nothing. As if all this were not enough, something is very wrong with his old car and the indigestion he suffers may not be indigestion at all. Boris can see none of this and, as he continues on his bumbling and gently comic way, it becomes clear that his ostrichism is a lifelong characteristic from which he will find it difficult to escape.

This was an original and amusing story.Watching Boris's life go into meltdown was a guilty pleasure. He writes his memoirs while suspended from his job as a G.P. His reflections on his childhood gives the reader some insight into his psyche but Boris does not learn from prior experience. There is an inspired emphasis on food throughout the narrative which again adds to the perception of just how blinkered Boris is.I really enjoyed this book and await the next offering from this innovative author.
