I just purchased the album this week, i watched an amazing performance of Rox on Later with Jools Holland a few months ago. This is a stunning debut album with lots of great tracks and amazing production, its one of best recent British soul albums over last 5 years or so in my opinion. The stand out tracks include Rock Steady, Not Going Back and Baby Left me. in fact every track evokes lots of feelings and positivity. There are shades of Motown ,Lauryn Hill ,Corrine Bailey Rae , so she is very well influenced. Rox is definitely one to watch for the future- a brighter future indeed for British soul .

Great soul/pop debut 21 Nov 2010

Rox's debut album "Memoirs," combines pop and soul with memorable hooks and live instrumentation. Debut single, "My Baby Left Me," is a good indication of the sound of the album and is one of the strongest tracks. Other standout tracks include "No Going Back," "I Don't Believe," and the hauntingly beautiful "Oh My."

The rest of the tracks are much more laid back and many blend into one another (Breakfast In Bed, Precious Moments) which makes for easy listening until it is interrupted by the reggae influenced Rocksteady which, in my opinion, sounds out of place.

Flawless vocals and a catchy melodies make this one of the best albums to come out of the UK in a long time. This is definitely worth a listen particularly if you like artists such as Corinne Bailey Rae.

Brilliant debut 13 Jun 2010

This is an album full of great songs, beautifully sung and well arranged. Not often will I start googling an artist on the strength of hearing a single track on the radio but after hearing "My Baby left Me" I was relieved to find that a full album was due out in June. Well, it's out, it's a great album so if you like strong poppy ballads sung with real authority, you can't go wrong.

Might as well face it I'm addicted to Rox
Memoirs is an absolute gem of an album. A mixture of bluesy soul written and sung from the heart. Rox's voice is absolutely beautiful. It can be so powerful but so delicate. Read more

well I think some of the songs are catchy and really good. however, the album does feel a little 'samey' and gets a little repetitive
