combat magazine november 2006

An exciting and informative read written with passion and precision, that
presents a type of 'hard' karate which is now almost obsolete in modern
society.

irish fighter magazine december 2006

Inspirational and thought-provoking. It is a life worth reading about and
Ralph Robb's writing is compelling as it is impeccable

I read this book in two days - I never read a book in two days! It is much more than a book about the experience and training of a karate fighter although for me this would have been enough. Read it yourself and find out why.

From the outset this book compells you to continue reading. It is not merely a book on Karate but a book that takes you deep into the dreams and aspirations of a young man growing up in a time when racial tensions ran high.

I was drawn into and encompassed in the karate world which instilled discipline, respect, the will to survive, and the sheer determination to succeed and be the best of the best. Speaking as a woman with no indepth knowledge into the Martial Arts, this book gives you great insight into this sport and then takes you deeper into the world of the author.

The raw honesty with which Ralph Robb describes his feelings about friends, family and pending fatherhood envoked such powerful thoughts that I found myself re-analysing chapters of my own life. Ralph also highlights how illness can strike, anytime, anywhere and the devasting effect it can have not only those affected but also those who care for them.

This book is not just a book for Martial Arts fans - it is a book for those who aspire to achieve their dreams and be all that they wish to be.

An excellant read. Can't wait for more.

Reader from Wolverhampton.

A good reminder of a memory's of a Karate fighter is a good look into history and ones mans thoughts of time.
I loved the book then i gave it to one of the guys on the back of the book who wasn't expecting it.
Needless to say it was a good gift also.
