The first volume in short series devoted to the post-WWII West coast R&B scene as captured on wax by Modern Records of Los Angeles. A spiritual successor of Aces old vinyl "California Jump Blues" package of more than 20 years ago, this features many of the biggest names to emerge from the musical hotbed of activity that was L.A.s Central Avenue in the late 1940s and early 1950s several of whom went on to become bonafide blues and R&B legends. Only six of these 24 recordings were issued at the time of recording, and of the 18 unissued sides, 13 have never been issued in any shape or form before. Those who like this will be sure to love the first volume in Aces sister series, drawn from the vaults of Combo Records, "Straight To Watts" (CDCHD 868).
