i cant recommend this item highly enough, great fun, great educational value and a well made thick puzzle that will last for more than one generation of children in my opinion if looked after .
my daughter is 22 months old and was desperate for more puzzles, i knew this brand had a good reputation and loved the pictures so went for it, the value for money is great compared with other puzzles of a lesser quality but higher price.
my daughter has managed to work out where they all go easily but has not tired of repeating the puzzle and enjoys also using the vehicle pieces just for play fun on her brothers car mat !
this is an all round bargain toy in a classic style

I bought this jigsaw for my son who loves peg style jigsaw puzzles at the moment and needed another challenge. The reviews for Melissa&Doug products seemed very good, and the price was certainly enticing and so I placed my order. Delivery and packaging was superb, I have no complaints about presentation or even how my son enjoyed the product, only I am not sure how long it will last being only wood covered with a cardboard picture.
I had learned through other reviews that this was the case, but wasn't quite prepared for just how easily the paper/thin card picture would come right off. My son spilt his drink while playing and although being very careful while mopping the water up, I lost the edges of two pieces which now look a bit scruffy and tattered. Also once you have that problem, little fingers may only be too happy to try and peel off more once they see that you can remove the surface! If your toddler/baby is teething I can also imagine how the pieces might just disintergrate once they've been nibbled on, however breifly.
I have not been very impressed with M&D at all for durability, which is a real shame as the pictures (if only they were painted on!) are certainly appealing.
For something that you want to last longer, say for a younger sibling (or just to still look nice enough to recycle at the charity shop,) I'd opt for John Crane products. Yes they cost roughly twice the price, but are beautifully painted, resistent to the rough and tumble of true toddler play, and will surely stand the test of time. We have a few of them in our house and they are firm favourites.

my 18 month son had this as he enjoys puzzles but he did chew one piece for a minuite and the picture came off the helicopter!
