Like it but has weak magnets 13 Sep 2009

The book is a great idea and is very educational. However, the magnets are not strong enough to hold the pieces in when you turn the pages. Pieces are always falling out and have to be sorted.

could be much, much better... 2 Sep 2010

We have a lot of Melissa and Doug items so I saw this and was excited to order it as 'quite toy' we could take to a restaurant/ church/ somewhere he needs to be entertained but it needs to note make noise. Well, I love the IDEA of this but it just does not function well. The magnets fall out the second you pick it up! We've only had this for about a week and we've lost 3 of the magnets and my son doesn't understand that we will never get them back. Like a i said before great idea just needs to be re-worked. Stronger magnets and maybe a carrying case. Step it up Melissa and Doug! So I would strongly urge you to NOT buy this- you will be sad when you start losing all of the magnets!

I purchased this product for my son when he was 18 months. I loved play withit and in few weeks he mastered to put the letters and the figures in their right place. He has also a lot of fun with it. I highly recommend it.

fun way to learn letters 5 July 2011

my son loves this book. he has begun to learn letters from playing with it and is distracted for some time. the only negative is that the magnets could be stronger as they all fall out if you put it away and you aren't super duper careful with it.

Not the best design, but a good learning tool 22 Jan 2013
By Mom of 2 - Published on Amazon.com

Using a string to bind a wooden book isn't the best idea. Making the book out of wood wasn't the best idea. The book is very heavy, and if your child drops the edges of the pages get bent. The magnets aren't very strong either and as your child flips through the pages, expect some of the pieces to fall out.

However, even with these failings, this is a good tool for helping your child to learn the alphabet. I like that it includes both the uppercase and lowercase letters. My two-year-old loves it because it combines his three favorite things: books, puzzles, and magnets.
