Let me start by saying i now own 3 of these!

I have always used drying towels in one form or another as they are kind to a paint finish, chamois leathers can damage a cars finish and are not always that absorbent.

I thought i would try this product out and I would have to say that this is the best drying towel so far!

It is really absorbent and providing you have cleaned your car correctly and completely they will be super kind to the paint work.

You can remove a lot of water using these things and leave a really dry surface behind.

It's only down side, and I stress only one I have found so far is that it's very difficult to ring out so after its full with water it needs to be hung up to dry. This is why I would recommend at least 2 of these things for a normal sized car and more for bigger cars. You can then just switch to the next one once the first is full.

I would highly recommend them......

I have been using Meguiars Water Magnets for many years now and they still look pretty much as new. Fold the Water Magnet in half one way, then in half again the other way. You then have 4 fresh surfaces to use (8 if you count both sides).

Wash before first use, and after every use, in a washing machine in accordance with the instructions on the pack. I use the tiniest amount of detergent at a temperature of 60° C. Water Magnets work even better the more times you use them. I have a concours winning classic car and truly wouldn't use anything else - they have none of the drawbacks of a genuine chamois leather. One towel is sufficient for a 17' long car, when used in conjunction with a Water Blade to avoid the Water Magnet becoming too saturated. Without a blade, you may need two Water Magnets for a large car. The Autoglym Water Blade is the best I've found.

Autoglym Hi-Tech Flexi Water Blade

Just remember to wash or wipe the blade between each sweep.

I would respectfully suggest that anyone who doesn't find the Water Magnet and Water Blade to be a near perfect solution for the job in hand is simply not using them properly.

The following was added in Sep '13:

Having read one review here on Amazon where the user had problems, the following may help. Once the Water Magnet becomes waterlogged, it will not work effectively even after wringing it out. This is why it is better to use the Flexi Water Blade mentioned above, to reduce the amount of water to be absorbed prior to using the Water Magnet. If you're a car fanatic, buy two Water Magnets - it makes the job even easier and more satisfying.

Generally I like the Meguairs range, and have been using more and more of their products over the last few years. I have always used a natural chamois leather to dry the car off, with good results, but I get frustrated with how often I have to replace them. Once they pick up dirt, you cannot seem to get it off, and I always find they dry out and crack. So I thought I would try this as an alternative, particularly as I have found this company's microfibre polishing cloths to be excellent. Unfortunately, this product does not live up to expectations. It seems to start off really well, but by the time I have dried half the car, it has become water-logged, and just leaves smears which dry out to leave marks. So to dry the whole car, I would need to use at least two of these, whereas a single natural chamois does the trick. If the water magnet were cheaper, that would be an agreeable solution, but it is not cheap at all, so having to use 2-3 of these is an expensive way to dry my car. There are other towels on the market which do the job better, and cost half the price.

I have not had it long enough to comment on longevity, but if it turns out to last 2-3 times as long as a natural chamois, then maybe there is a case for switching.

I have tried many drying towels over the years but none have been as good as this one.

Ive never really enjoyed drying my car but Ive always done it as I hate water spots. With my new water magnet the time it takes to dry the car is now halved. It really does just seem that the water is attracted to the towel. I used it on a Vw Passat saloon which for those of you that dont know is a fairly long car. One water magnet dried the whole car and I only had to wring it out a couple of times. I also think it glides over the paintwork much easier than other products which should help to prevent scratches and swirl marks. This is the drying towel to buy.

Take care

I found this item to soak up the excess water very quickly. It won't leave the car bone dry, but if you need to get the excess off and get that coat of wax on the same day, it certainly helps.

I use it every time I wash the car.

I absolutely hate drying the car. You either miss bits or whatever you use either causes annoying micro swirls or simply stops drying properly.

This changes all the above. I have an average sized car ( Vw polo ) and it is waxed and I take the spray off the home to sheet the water away. All the above help with the drying process.

One of these almost dries the entire car. Almost. Only downside is once it's saturated it's unless, these don't ring out well. I have two and simply wash and tumble dry them, making these very good value.

If you hate drying your car after washing buy 2 of these, you will never look back.
