Product Description

The supervillain Megamind finally conquers his nemesis, the hero Metro Man... but finds his life pointless without a hero to fight.

From Amazon.co.uk

Villainy is a way of life, but if a villain doesn't have a hero to battle, can he still expect the same sense of satisfaction from his evil deeds? When Megamind (Will Ferrell) finally defeats his long-time nemesis Metro Man (Brad Pitt), he ecstatically goes about laying ruin to Metro City, reveling in the fact that he can now have anything he wants. Surprisingly, Megamind's glee quickly turns to dissatisfaction as he realizes that the battle was half the fun and everything comes too easy now. Thus begins a plot to turn the nerdy Hal (Jonah Hill) into Tighten, a new hero for Megamind to battle. What Megamind doesn't count on is that Tighten may not turn out to be as good as he's meant to be. Nor does he anticipate falling in love with his old rival's girl Roxanne Ritchi (Tina Fey). In the end, Megamind finds he must rethink his assumptions about good, bad, and what makes him happy. Megamind and Despicable Me are remarkably similar movies: both deal with villains who are unfulfilled by their evil ways and who, despite their despicable natures, have some essential goodness deep down inside. Both villains are presented in highly stylized animation and the 3D effects in each film are skillful and effective without being overdone. Megamind has Minion, who watches over him, while Gru has a whole crew of mindless minions supporting his evil ventures. Finally, both films are solidly entertaining. Because the two films were released within a few months of one another, speculation about who copied who will no doubt run rampant, but the bottom line is that both films are well worth seeing.--Tami Horiuchi --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Yeah sure, I agree Avatar is the best 3D movie out there. But Megamind 3D stands in the similar place. The story is too good for any age to enjoy and the 3D just blows your mind. There is not only a lot of Depth in every scene right from the beginning titles to the ending Credits, but there are a lot of WOW moments and Pop-Out scenes through out the movie. Each model & scene in the movie is perfect for 3D and the 3D works for the Big Round head of Megamind in many scenes. If there is any cross-talk or ghosting as some may talk, keep in mind that these issues purely depend on your 3D screen and set-up, but not the technical fault of the disc. If you love 3D as much as I do, u must have this in your collection. If u don't trust me, well you are going to miss one of the best 3D movies..Believe me there are only a few movies like these in which 3D actually works!!! Highly Recommended to all 3D enthusiasts..

I love this film. Excellent animation great characters, cool story and it even made me laugh at the right times.

Megamind has always been in the shadow of Metropolises top hero, a generic superman clone (Metroman) with all of Superman's powers. First having his rocket knocked of course so instead of being raised by rich but stupid parents he is raised by crooks in jail. In nursery he realises the only way he can beat his arch rival is by being bad a making him his nemesis. As you might have guess from the title Magamind is super smart but clumsy "evil" but his heart is in the right place. After year of planning scheming and battling what happen if he finally wins? Without a worthy hero out there Magamind must redefine himself, especially if he is to get the girl of his dreams. Not everything is at is seems.

A great film, if you like superheroes, comedy, or just great stories this is well worth watching Megamind has the perfect balance brilliance, comedy, slapstick, and action.

I absolutely loved this film. It's fast paced and full of laugh out loud moments as well as more subtle humour. I actually wanted to watch it again as soon as it had finished! I'm not a Will Ferrell fan as he usually does over the top, slap-stick humour, but he was perfect in this and I actually found his character very sweet as well as hilarious.

I really don't think that this film should be compared to "Despicable me" (which I personally found flat and a bit boring) just because of one idea in common. The style, storyline and feel of the films are miles apart. Megamind is still original and is a clever, fun film. I would say that Megamind is aimed more at adults as a lot of the comedy is in the script rather than visual.

I'm really glad I bought it and I will be re-watching it several times. I was expecting it to just be ok but it's the most entertaining film I've seen in a while and stands head and shoulders above many other animated features.

First off, I'd like to say the three stars reflect that this film falls short of expectations and hype. For me, any super hero animated film should try to be as clever and well written as The Incredibles... Megamind doesn't come close. My major problem was neither Metro Man nor Megamind are particularly likeable or believeable as superhero/supervillain and Megamind's journey through the film is predictable and somewhat dull.

It is funny in parts, and I did enjoy watching it, but in this genre The Incredibles set the benchmark others have to aim for and this falls well short. For me, Despicable Me did the whole 'supervillain with a twist' much better as, unlike Megamind, it used all it characters well and was well paced. Big star names doesn't mean a good film and this is the case with Megamind: too much time spent getting the stars and not enough time thinking about character.

Aliens vs Monsters and Despicable Me offer more laughs and humour while also having a decent story line. The benchmark film is The Incredibles. This film is okay, but for the casting and hype I wanted more.

Doesn't need to be side-splitting, but gently bowls along to deliver ninety minutes of comic sincerity. Throughout MM keeps it simple with the result there is little wasted footage.
Smart thinking also dictates jettisoning the complications of back-story telling, by delivering the necessary context in a compressed opening five minutes of flashback. Job done? Now we can get on with the main event.

You can safely abandon the kids for this one, few will feel you are outside the target demograph which appears to be focus less on absolute years and more upon generation, starting with a pronounced bias towards the 80's and ending where FRIENDS (Aniston/Cudrow et al) begins.
While Mrs Brad Pitt was plain annoying in KUNG FU PANDA, Mr Pitt himself risks reputation and wins with a disguised send-up as the voice of the impeccably bred hyper-hero that is Metroman.
My hat also comes off to Will Ferrell, for a vocal performance that could only be bettered if the late King of Camp Kenneth Williams were still around. Ferrell was a loathsome distraction the day I was trapped in a long-haul airliner showing BLADES OF GLORY some years back, but today I'll take a generous mouthful of humble pie as I sit back and enjoy again and again his rampant cavorting as a farcical blend of Kevin Kline's "Otto" A Fish Called Wanda (Special Edition) [DVD] [1988] and the ROCKY HORROR PITCURE SHOW.
Tina (Sarah Palin) Fey could easily have stolen the show as the voice of the redoubtable heroine Roxanne Ritchie whose character is marked down only for the "ooh-so-yesterday" gender stereotyping - bug sized eyes, size zero waistline, etc. etc. Someday we'll give real girls a chance.
