I have to admit to being a bit disappointed with this collection. The Lenny Zero story concept is great but poorly executed. The story seems to jump in places as if they ran out of space and had to cut some bits out. The artwork is okay but not great.

The tales of Aimee Nixon and Dirty Frank (which make up the bulk of this collection) are adequate but not great. Artwork is again a bit hit and miss.

None of this collection really brings Mega City alive. Touted as 'Mega City Noir' this collection is more like generic undercover cop stories which just happen to take place in the Big Meg.

I first bought this simply becuase it had a smashing review on ifanboy.com and because I had just got into 2000ad .After watching 3 seasons of the american cop drama known only as "The Sheild" continuisly (with only brief toilet breaks),I decided to re-read the "low life" part of the book which (according to writer Rob williams)was influenced by said tv series .Its about the under-cover mega city one judges who investigate the perps in the deapist ,dirtiest part Dredds world .It centers around 2 judges ,Aimee Nixon(a crazy haired lady judge) and Lenny Zero (who's like an under cover Vic Mackey). This is so good I took it to kapow to get signed by jock.

A fantastic Dreddworld graphic novel collecting some of the later years' finest stories from some of 2000ad's finest creators...

lenny zero is an undercover judge ...for now...its hard to describe the tale without spoilers so i wont...needless to say theres double crossing a plenty and dirty tricks and judge dredd makes a cameo.
The art work for zero is provided by Jock (faker). The one named pen bandit who incidentally is busy doing the concept art for the new rebooted improved and creator approved Judge dredd movie coming soon ish!

lowlife follows primarily judge aimee nixon ,again and undercover (wally) judge with a broken nose and robotic arm she fits in well with the seedier side of mega city one hers is a more serious tale after the john woo zero and with some always excellent art by henry flint .

The real star of the show is however none of the above...starting as a supporting character in aimee nixons squad Dirty Frank soon becomes a star in his own right. looking like a dishevelled alan moore with an eye patch frank talks in the third person and has spent way to much time under cover the highlight tale is the one with the ninja babies i kid you not.

if you like your books to have a bit of everything in them this is for you and can be enjoyed i think if you are not a massive dreddhead but it does help.
