The official story of the Godfathers of independent music
This 208 page official and fully authorised biography tells the complete and only story of the UK’s pioneering Godfathers of independent music, Mega City Four. Having dragged live music screaming and kicking back into the clubs back in the mid-80’s MC4 have gone on to become one of the countries most enduring and well respected bands. No other band can claim to have maintained the degree of integrity and veracity MC4 have clung on to, despite the many extraneous pressures modern bands find themselves under. From their prolific and legendary live schedules, through acrimonious record company splits and unexpected turns of both a musical and career nature, the band have pursued an inspirational preference for highly emotive music accompanied by discerning and often intensely personal lyrics.

Frequently compared to bands like The Lemonheads and Husker Du, MC4 also compete with groups like Squeeze in their mastery of the melody. With a string of chart hits, Top 40 albums and over 750 concerts in the UK alone, MC4 are solidly established as one of the countries most accomplished alternative bands.

The book features over 35 hours of exclusive interviews with the band, as well as 30 previously unpublished photographs taken exclusively from the band’s very own personal collection. A complete collector’s discography concludes what is a definitive and exceptionally detailed history of this seminal and revered band.

I love the band 1 Mar. 2015

I love the band, and I love them even more now that I've read the book. It is an honest telling of this indie band's transitions thru everything the music business threw at them with them surviving with their ideals intact. Very good read if you are interested in Mega City Four, Indie Music or just the punk and post-punk music scene in England.
