This is like old fashioned Lego. Lots of square and rectangular blocks with very few specialised pieces, and as such it is great fun. The fire station looks good, the vehicles are very well designed and sturdy and the instructions for building them are very clear.

The reason this fails to get top marks is that the bricks aren't separated into model-specific bags. I can't see any rhyme or reason for the division of the bricks. I'm sure there is one, but it's defeated me. As a result, before my son could build anything, I had to spend all morning with him opening the bags and separating them into colour-specific piles.

Having said all that it managed to keep my son occupied for many hours and created models which had good play value in their own right. And of course they are fully compatible with other building systems....

Christmas morning was spent with our son waiting for mum and dad to figure out how the heck to put it all together so he could play with it! And then it fell apart with the slightest touch. Really finickity and entirely impossible for our little one to fix when it falls apart as it already has. So now he has a box of mega bloks under his bed and the occasional tiny plastic piece clogging up our hoover. I think we'll just stick to basic bricks in future and he can build some houses. Really frustrating and impossible if you lose the instructions in the future.

My son loves this but as said in previous reviews it is a bit of a nightmare to sort all the pieces. I do like that it can be used with other megablok kits so is versatile too.
all the kids seem to like it and dads too :) I would recommend buying it

The actual instructions are better than Lego instructions, but finding the pieces for each step in a nightmare. If each toy had its own bag I would have given this full marks.
For that reason we'll be sticking with Lego from now on.

This is a very disappointing product. Parents of younger children will spend more time fixing it than the child will play with it. Flimsy and highly frustrating (for dad and son alike). Stick with Lego!
