My 9 month old baby loves this book. The cover has a furry Mog on it and on each of the 6 pages there is something tactile to touch. The pages are board book thickness so they're easy for little hands to grab. The basic concept is that everyone finds an item for the spell: one slimy worm, two rubber soled boots etc. This goes up to 5 silver shooting stars and then it cheats a bit as the creature that comes out of the cauldron has attributes of 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10!

This is a lovely book, very much in keeping with the bold images of Meg and Mog that I remember from my own childhood and I'm really glad I bought it for my child.

Not the best 3 Dec 2011
This book is ok but the illustration on the last page has a creature with lots of feet attached with string to the page. These are easily pulled off which somewhat spoils the effect.

My children enjoy almost any book - and they like this one - but I think there are much better alternatives for board books and counting books.

Counting from 1-5 3 Sep 2009
I would rate this book five stars if the book had a different page for each number. The first five pages are great, one slimy worm, two red boots, three furry catapillars, four glittery wings, five shooting stars, lots of colours to learn and textures to feel, but the last page has an animal coming out of the cauldron which has 6 wings, 7 stripes, 8 teeth, 9 whiskers and 10 feet. I feel these are very confusing for a young child to pick out and count so I usually skip the counting on this page
