Mefo Phillips was born in Kent in 1948 and has been a writer and horse rider for most of her life. Now semi-retired from the day job in criminal law, she has the opportunity to indulge her addiction to equine travel - which began in her twenties when she worked for an American rodeo travelling in Europe and was thrown out of a stage coach twice a night. In 2006 she rode her horse Leo from Canterbury to Rome and is currently completing her book about that journey. Her main home is in Faversham, Kent, but she and her husband Peter have a house in the French Pyrenees, and from there she and Leo and his new friend, Trevi the pack horse, often set out in search of adventure. She has had numerous articles and poems published, and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a member of the Long Riders Guild.
