About the Author

Pip Lincolne grew up in a DIY family. Her dad sewed her lovely dresses; her mum made her orange sorbet; her brother fashioned little houses for her dolls; her sister drew and her nanna knitted, sewed, baked ... you name it! Raised on such handmade fare, there was never any doubt that a crafty life lay ahead. Pip lives above her popular craft store Meet Me at Mikes, in Melbourne's Fitzroy, with her lovely family. She runs Brown Owls - a new-fangled craft club for crafters of all ages and makes things every single day. She will be a writer when she grows up.

I own many a craft book, but one as well thought out as this is a rare find. Pip Lincolne has brought together 26 projects from Australia's most fabulous crafty folks covering sewing, knitting, crochet, screenprinting and paper crafts. The projects are within the grasp of the beginner, but also provide a jumping off point for the more experienced crafter.

Spiral binding and full sized pattern pieces make it clear that this isn't one of those 'look at, but never make from' glossy craft books. The photo styling is quirky and beautiful and revels in the joy of the handmade. As Pip says in her introduction, 'Making is one of life's great joys' and this is a book that certainly adds to that pleasure.

All the contributors to the book have blogs, which are detailed at the back of the book. If you're a crafter who hasn't discovered blogs yet, you are in for such a treat. Enough natter, there's an obi belt and some paper flowers calling my name.

I purchased this book after much deliberation as I didn't think i would ever make anything out of it but how wrong i was!
My 8 year old daughter insisted on making Zing the Cat one "stay indoors" sort of day, and I have to say that,
although there is no way she could make it by herself, the instructions were extremely easy to follow and the finished result was very close to the picture in the book.
She was thrilled with the result and so was I!
My friend has made a number of the baby shoes and I have started the notebook cover now.
All in all the instructions are clear easy to follow and the projects are really divine. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to make cute useable crafts.Meet Me at Mike's: 26 Fun and Crafty Projects

I have just been given this book for Christmas and I have already made something! It was really easy to follow with interesting illustrations and comments, as well as being beautifully laid out and designed. I have never been so eager to complete more sewing projects for myself and as gifts for others! What a great book - well worth it.

I read all the rave reviews of this book and thought I was buying an amazing book chock-full of inspirational crafts for me to get stuck into. Not so! I was so disappointed when it arrived :-( Most of the projects are totally bizarre, unappealing and have no use whatsoever. So I returned the book and bought a lovely book called "Applique for Little Ones" by Sylvie Blondeau and am currently making a beautiful patchwork cushion for my daughter. Happy at last!

I've just been given this book for my Birthday and cannot wait to start making! I have several craft books but this is the best one by far. It's ideal for beginners as the instructions are easy to follow and the illustrations are clear. It gives you a chance to try a number of different crafts. Not only does it have inspirational projects, easy to follow instructions and all the patterns ready to use but the photography / imagery in the book is top notch. I'm already looking forward to Pip's new book Sew La Tea do.

This book is brilliant, especially if you are an absolute beginner like me. It is inviting and fun. but easy to understand and is made by someone who knows how to practically explain her projects without being patronising or confusing. I can not recommend it enough...every page will have something you will want to, and be able to, make :)

A lovely book, full of very well written instructions and photos. I've made a couple of the projects so far and they look surprisingly like the photos! Well worth the price, I can't recommend it enough :)
