Product Description

Product Description

The relationship between mother and child begins the moment a woman learns she is pregnant. "Meditations for Pregnancy "is a beautiful tool for mothers-to-be to enhance that relationship, nurture their bodies through a healthy pregnancy, and focus their thoughts on a joyful birth experience.

Pregnancy can inspire an overwhelming host of emotions. A woman may feel excitement about the new life growing inside her, yet apprehension about the changes it will bring. Her body is expanding; her hormones are out of control. Everyone offers unsolicited advice. What she really needs is a way to calm her fears, center her thoughts, and focus her mind on her prenatal child.

"Meditations for Pregnancy" is written by an expert in pregnancy and birthing to provide guidance and comfort to the mother-to-be throughout the weeks of her pregnancy. For each week, beginning with the fifth, the book provides a thoughtful meditation that speaks to the specific needs and joys of that phase of pregnancy. Inspirational quotations and a short affirmation accompany each meditation, along with a brief description of the development of the growing fetus that week.

Best of all, an audio CD features a 20-minute guided meditation to calm the expectant mom's emotions. It is read by the author and accompanied by soothing music. "Meditations for Pregnancy" is a wonderful way for women to explore their feelings, calm their nerves, and bond with their babies-all in preparation for the transformative experience of birth.

What is this? 18 Jan 2011
Format:Hardcover
What the...bump is this book? I expected some sensible guided mediations and breathing exercises week by week. What I got was a book filled with whiney and badly written nonsense about finding the inner light and such. Who wrote this? How did it even get published? It sounds like it was written by some university student high on cannabis! Really, do NOT buy this book! Do not even look at this book. It will make you so annoyed you will throw it out the window of a moving vehicle.

good price & good for beginners 10 Nov 2007
By yoginijanny - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
The book and CD combo were a good price. The CD was good for relaxation/meditation, but the book passages weren't so much meditation practices as they were passages about how the baby is developing and advice on prenatal practices that would be found in any pregnancy book (re: take prenatal vitamins. eat leafy greens etc.) If you are completely new to meditation or feel completely overwhelmed with or detached from your pregnancy this is a good book to start connecting with baby. If you are experienced in meditation and practices to increase your self-awareness you will find the info in this book no more supportive to your pregnancy than practices that you are probably doing on your own.

Like the book, not the cd 23 April 2009
By Isabella Valentine - www.IsabellaValentine.com - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I have mixed feelings about this product. First and foremost I thought the book was excellent! I loved the way the author wrote (written as if I am talking to my baby) and it FULL Of an overall-good healthy feeling of well-being. The approach of the book was beautiful in every way with healthy, vegetarian suggestions within foods as well as nurturing, kind words that we should be speaking to our little one when we're pregnant. I've waited a long time for a book like this. I wouldn't necessary call this book a "meditative" book though, although it DOES explain how the baby is growing and shares with us the correct attitude to take to ensure a calm pregnancy.

The cd, however, I absolutely would not call a guided meditation. There was nothing "guided" about it. The author, who has a calm and nice voice, spent more time being SILENT and giving us time to do things on our own that I often felt like I could be doing the same thing without listening to the cd. For instance, she would say, "Go ahead and observe your breathing." And then there would be silence for literally 3 minutes. A flute would play. Then she'd come back and say, "Now go ahead and focus on your thoughts." And there would be SILENCE for 4 minutes. I was a little disappointed being an expert on meditation on hypnosis myself in her lack of guiding me through the process. She had maybe 4 sentences that were helpful and the rest, I swear, was silence. Silence? I didn't buy a cd for silence. I can be silent without a cd. That was my only true critique.

For the book, I'd give it 5 stars. For the cd, I'd give it 2 or 3 stars. Both together, I give the whole product an average of 4 stars (being that the book was really really helpful).

If you're a fan of pre-birth communication and want to learn how to talk to the baby, the book is a good start. I loved the author's writing style!

Great book! 19 Dec 2006
By New Mom - Published on Amazon.com

Of my stacks and stacks of pregnancy books, this is my favorite. Each weekly chapter gives you a few paragraphs that really help you think about what is going on in your body and help you to connect with the baby. The CD is also great - a simple guided meditation.
