Fantastic beginner's guide, it's all you need. Simple and effective results. Wouldn't recommend for the advanced. However, might be worth a quick read as there is some real sage advice in this book. Plus the author's personal experience adds some real depth. I was trying to get into meditation/dharma and reading so many things that I was just confused. I wasn't sure I was doing anything correctly! This book was refreshingly cut to the chase and reassuring. The practices gave results so I knew I was on the right track and I could sort out what I'd previously learned. I highly recommend for beginners and the "confused" but searching!!

Basically, this book does what it says on the tin and does it well. Lovic's writing style is informal and unassuming to the point where some might feel he's underselling such a revered topic as meditation, but don't let that fool you - he's simply focussing on the practical issues which effect beginners. Personally I've found it a lot more helpful than some of the more wordy or self-important guides (and there are certainly plenty of those to choose from).

This is a great book, not at all pushy or prescriptive. Encourages you to just be yourself and find what works for you, nice gentle humour too. If you can only manage 5 minutes of meditation - that's fine. Highly recommend this book for people like me who have struggled with meditation. I am now enjoying it and feeling the benefits after only a short time

I've looked at and read many books on meditation - this is the one that 'cuts to the chase' - is well written, short and powerful ......you do not have to read it day by day but it would pay to practice meditation, if you are new, to start it before you move to later days. Perfect book. A no nonsense guide to meditation without the usual hype or religious angle, which tends to deter people like myself who generally look at meditation as new age clap trap. I'm guessing that meditation is similar to hypnosis and I am now looking forward to giving it a try.

This book has shown me that I am not alone in my feelings. For years I have struggled with both meditation and the buddhist religion. This book has shown me that it is possible to meditate without the confines religion.
