About the Author

Ulrike Domenika Bolls began learning meditation aged 20 and received the positive diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome in her adult years. She has dedicated a lot of time to self-discovery in therapies and seminars in Germany and the United States. In 2000 she began working on a self-employed basis with people in transformation processes. She offers coaching for gifted and highly-sensitive people both with and without Asperger Syndrome under the name Highmat, as well as introductory courses, support and training in meditation. She is a trained Psycho-Social coach. She lives with her husband in Munich, Germany.

Got this book on first day of release. As an adult Aspie myself and father of 3 children - one son also on the spectrum I find meditation to be of great help for my family and I to cope better. My family all started learning Transcendental Meditation (TM) last year and it is now an essential part of our daily lives. I read the entire book on the evening it arrived on a day I had suffered a bad meltdown. The book read in low lighting, silence, in my meditation chair and wrapped in my comfort slanket helped me remain calm that evening. Meditation is one of my many coping mechanism in life as is singing, humming, humour and rocking/repetitive movements. Many forms of meditation are covered in the book with mantra meditation also included which TM essentially is plus other forms which relate to the many coping mechanisms that Aspies like myself use. All the benefits of meditation clearly explained which relates not just to Aspies but to everyone in general such as lowered stress, less migranes, and other health benefits like lowered blood pressure. Problems, tips and motivation to succeed all covered well. I could relate well to what the author recommended who is an Aspie herself and in fact some of the tips she gives I had already noted to my TM teacher when I was learning for instance being told to sit still in a chair was a struggle to me and still is. I prefer to rock and have such a chair at home when I meditate. Will be showing the book to my TM teacher soon.

I bought this for my son to read and use for situations with high anxiety. He liked it a lot and found it helpful. I'm going to read it next to use it since it does seem to be a nice, easy guide for beginners (neurotypical or on the spectrum) to learn meditation techniques.
