5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional Artwork 8 July 2007
By Charles Buttlebury - Published on Amazon.com

This is one tarot deck that stands apart from the many pastel, new-agey decks which continue to be published. Not only is the artwork suggestive of a medieval style, with its bold colors, simple faces, and forced-perspective backgrounds, but they are also very modern, not only in the illustrations (different from the standard WS minors), but also in the card definitions listed in the LWB, just to keep you on your toes. Don't look for reversed meanings here; I don't miss them, since there are plenty of cards with foreboding meanings. The deep red borders are a nice plus as well, setting off the illustrations nicely.

An intriguing deck which beckons for more exploration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice art work, beautiful trumps, idiosyncratic minors 15 May 2013
By Anthony Louis - Published on Amazon.com
This is an attractive deck that looks "medieval" but is really quite modern. The 22 trumps are very traditional and beautifully crafted. The art on the minor cards is also nicely done but the meanings of the cards are fairly idiosyncratic. The artist doesn't particularly follow any traditional method of signification. He does not particularly follow the Golden Dawn, the Waite-Smith or the Etteilla meanings. Sometimes there is a match and sometimes not. Occasionally the artist just seems to pull a card meaning out of the air. If you are used to a particular tradition, you will have to put it aside and learn this author's meanings to be able to read with this deck. If you are an intuitive reader who simply goes by the pictures on the cards, there should be no problem adjusting to this deck. Since I prefer cards in the Waite-Smith tradition, I found this deck hard to read with. Nonetheless, the cards are quite nice to look at, even if you don't use them for divination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for 10 Feb 2012

These cards are just what I've been looking for. The imagery is rich, textured and vivid in color without being garish. The detail is perfect, not too much as to be confusing. The scenes are simple but not cluttered. I liked them so much, I am looking at purchasing another deck done by the same artist. Holding them, looking at them and using them is easy, comfortable and enjoyable. The are good quality, sturdy, not too big for my small hands. They are in excellent condition and shipped fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Medieval Tarot 14 Mar 2011

I love this deck, the cards aren't cluttered with too much detail. I do think that the color theme (a lot of browns & blues) could've been more varied, (it's a little monotonous), but I love the historical details in the tools and garb of the figures featured on the cards. A very easy and satisfying deck to work with, and the cards fit my hands well;I appreciate their smaller size, it makes them easy to shuffle. All in all, -this deck's a keeper!
