5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Standard, 23 May 2008

(REAL NAME)
Though not a book for the novice or those with a passing interest in archaeology, for the student or the field archaeologist this work is useful, informative and sets a high standard for future pottery studies.
For those interested in medieval Irish pottery this book acts as an excellent reference guide due to its photography quality pictures, descriptions and extensive bibliography. To an extent this book is also relevant to those studying the medieval pottery of North West Europe due to the pottery trade which existed during this period.
For those intending to work on an Irish medieval urban site this book is an excellent means of familiarising oneself with pottery likely to be encountered during excavation.
For those interested in pottery studies the chapter "Methodology of Study" also provides a good clear introduction to the field.
