This is the second book in the series and I recommend reading the first book first. In this story the girls are joined by Jack and Marcus. The battle in the future between good and evil continues, whilst the children are caught up in a plot to steal a clepsydra, sword fights, escapes, chases, a joust on London Bridge and the peasants revolt led by Wat Tyler. City of London locations include the Priory of St Bartholomew (now St Bartholomew the Great), the Tower of London, Ely Place and St Etheldreda's Church, the old city walls, the Priory and Knights if St John of Jerusalem and Cloth Fair. The pace quickens as the story reaches its climax. As in the previous book, the children do not hesitate to go to the aid of those who need them, including a leperous woman who has been separated from her child. There's lots of suspense and adventure making this book impossible to put down.
