This book is absolutely wonderful! The author gives a thorough background of the manuscript's interpretation, showing how his Victorian biases heavily influenced his interpretation of the text. Van Arsdall provides a new interpretation and translation of the text. If you are at all interested in Medieval herbalism, this is a wonderful introduction and resource.

an amazing book 8 Jan. 2014

Format: Kindle Edition
If you want to know how the Anglo-Saxons healed themselves and others, you need this book. The author begins with several chapters on the first translation by Oswald Cockayne and its faults. Her research on this man is extensive. The latter part of the book is the herbarium with the list of 185 plants and remedies using these plants.

Fascinating book.
