For anyone as crazy about Medieval history as I am, this book is a thrill!
Heaps of full colour illustrations almost on every page, make it a veritable jewel. Margaret Scott's text is easy to read and understand and not a bit "dry" as some historical writers tend to be. She approaches her subject with both gusto and humour, explaining how even the colours of different outfits could denote where one stood in medieval hierachy. Also some of the "fashion fads" were amusing, such as very, very elongated toes on shoes for men, started by one poor soul who had bad bunions, in order to disguise the fact! I am still reading it, and loving every page. I highly recommend it to anyone, particularly those interested in how dress and fashion started and even today, influences how we dress.
