This is the best value purchase I've made in years. A fabulous boxed collection of maps and informative brochures in addition to the text I had expected to receive. A real surprise - packed full of interesting info on History of Medicine & much more.Makes me want to get down to London and seek out the Physick Garden and other sites. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Medical London City of Diseases City of Cures, 31 Jan 2009
By Dr. William Larkworthy (France) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As a graduate of a London teaching hospital over 50 years ago I found this book of essays enthralling. It has been well researched and is well written. The accompanying Gazetteer and Maps add to the atmosphere. However, a chapter on the current (drastically changed) status of the London teaching hospitals and wonderful advances in the practice of modern medicine contrasted with the scene 100 years ago would have been of interest.

Beautifully presented boxed set containing two books packed with interesting historic facts, quotes, references and illustrations, and a series of fold-out guide maps for medical history walks around London. Extremely good value for money.
