Product Description

Product Description

In 1912 Edward Bach qualified as a medical doctor and embarked upon a career which not only had a profound effect on medical science, but brought to ordinary people the world over, a simple, safe and effective system of healing.

Dr. Bach made a detailed study of bacteriology, immunology and homeopathy and found a clear connection between chronic disease and negative mental attitudes. It was the relationship between mind and body which formed the basis of his further research and as he became increasingly convinced that emotional harmony was the key to good health, he was determined to find a simple, non-invasive and harmless method of healing which could be used safely by everyone.

The Medical Discoveries of Edward Bach tells how Dr. Bach's work developed, from his childhood hopes and dreams of a healthy society, to the discovery of a complete system of 38 remedies which address all aspects of human nature, emotional outlook and personality. Edward Bach was an eminent physician whose remarkable contribution to medicine, healing and humanity has yet to be fully realised.

By Lee Ann Day VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Nora Weeks was Dr Bach's loyal and hard working assistant during the years he found and perfected the system of 38 flower remedies known as Bach Flower Remedies.

When he died the remedies were then not greatly known and it was left to Nora to ensure that they continued to be available to the public and that the philosophy of Dr Bach was not lost by modernisation. Nora was a remarkable woman and without her the Bach centre at Mount Vernon where Dr Bach lived and where the remedies are still made may not have survived. That his legacy continues today is in a great part due to her.

This book is her tribute to him and charts his medical life and discoveries. As you read this you cannot help but think how classic a tale it is and how far ahead of his time he was. His system of 38 remedies and his ideas are as relevant today as they were in his own time.

Anyone who uses the remedies without knowing about Dr Bach is only obtaining half of the benefits from their use - get this book and understand why they were created, and maybe you will also learn a bit more about yourself too.

By Jim McM
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This brief book follows Bach's life from youth to his untimely death: dealing with his work in orthodox and homoeopathic medicine as well as the process of discovering and using the remedies. However, often these issues suffer from a brevity of style which left me yearning to know more of Bach's practice in these areas. In its understatement, we nearly miss the fact that this was a doctor operating in the rank and file of academic and practical medicine, whose appetite for a holistic sense of the human being and healing led him to the homeopathic school - contributing much in his role as a bacteriologist- then abandoning laboratory practice and theory in order to test, prove and assemble medicines in the simplest ways possible. In terms of complementary medicine, the remedies stand alone in their stark simplicity and seem completely devoid of media or medical interest. They are suffused with Bach's sense of the spiritual and the dignity in man: something we sadly lack in so many areas of our modern life. The book, as it's suggested here, will make Bach seem to the reader like a mad crank or a compassionate, spiritual healer - almost like an impenetrable mystery, an artifact. Someone who turned his back on the materialistic, scientific path we value so much nowadays to prepare medicines from the plants he found. For me, the book's strength - or perhaps failing - is in its brevity and ability to throw up all these issues which may seem superficial or trite but go right to the heart of our philosophy of medicine.

Reads as if written by a lovelorn groupie 29 May 2009
By S. Adams - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Although this book reads painfully as if it were written by a lovelorn groupie, it does offer some good recommendations for the use of the remedies. Since the tone of the author is so adoring and sickly sweet, with a relentless he-can-do-no-wrong motif, when talking about her subject, I would have to think twice before giving credence to this "biography". Not even Mother Teresa was this saintly...

I would recommend it for the valuable remedy and application references, of which there are enough, in my opinion, to validate the purchase of this little book.

As a biography, I would possibly consider it as such, but only in a very superficial sense: perhaps timelines and places. Otherwise, my skepticism takes hold and questions.
