I spent 5 days in hospital after having my baby. Tried in vain to get him to latch on. I was given loads of different reasons for him not being able to, from him being given a bottle at birth because of low blood sugar level, to his tongue curling incorrectly, my nipples being too flat/small etc. I was determined to breast feed and felt so defeated at not being able to until on my 4th day a midwife recommended using these. I've used them ever since and my baby is now 11 weeks old. Some midwives and even one lactation consultant said only use them for short term use. I tried but still failed to get babs to latch one. I have had no problems feeding ever since I've used them. They should be widely recommended in hospitals for women who have problems getting their little ones to latch on. They are excellent, easy to clean, remain intact.

By the time my baby was 3 weeks old I had twice Mastities with high temperature and extremely sore nipples. I nearly gave up breastfeeding after trying different types of nipple shields, but all were no good due to either being too small for me or too big for my baby's mouth. Medela has 3 sizes (S, M, L) and a con shaped nipple. In the shops I could only get the medium size. I have small breasts, however when feeding the nipples are swelling a great deal. Only on Amazon have I found the correct size for me. My baby is now 8 weeks old. Without the Large Madela Contact Nipple Shields I wouldn't have been able to breastfeed. The case is not "user friendly", but this is a minor issue.

After 1 week my Fiancee has really sore/cracked/blistered nipples from our tongue-tied baby, so much so that the baby latching on and suckling caused unbearable pain. After a very sleepless night, much fretting and lots of tears I picked some of these up and they are fantastic. She can now feed our baby with ease, I am so happy! Don't hesitate to get these if you are struggling.

Fiddley but compact
This is a hard little case so have had no issues with that but I do find it a little fiddley as it doesn't seem to open fully. Have reverted back to using my dummy cases instead.

It' brilliant, but it's not a toy.
These are the best nipple guards i could find (and i tried several different types).
Without these nipple guards my baby would not have learned to breast feed.
