5.0 out of 5 stars The Online Mode Is Superb, 21 Jan 2005
This review is from: Medal Of Honor Rising Sun Platinum (PS2) (Video Game)
When i bought this game i thought it was gonna be like frontline and to say the truth it is the gameplay's similar but the graphics are much better and the online mode is absolutely suberb you could play for hours on there, it's like unreal tournament medal of honor style.

3.0 out of 5 stars Alright, but not brilliant., 26 Jan 2006
This review is from: Medal Of Honor Rising Sun Platinum (PS2) (Video Game)
Have been a big fan of the MOH series ever since the first game on PS1 and so was looking forward to playing this game. It's basically a first person shoot em up based around WW2. There's various missions to complete thrroughout the game however essentially the object of the game is to shoot all the baddies and avoid getting shot yourself. Exactly what a first person shooter should be, lots of baddies and plenty of ammo.

Compred to previoud titles in the series AI has improved, when doing missions as part of a team your computer buddies are actually quite helpful, instead of running around aimlessly shooting at random like they did on MOH on frontline.

You can now save your game at various points in each level meaning you don't have to redo the entire level when you get shot right at the end.

There's a few extra thing to do like shooting enemy planes down from a boat although this does not really add much to the game overall.

On the downside the graphics are not great and the scrolling a bit jerky which ruins the gameplay as it's quite hard to see where the baddies are a lot of the time. MOH frontline (the previous title in the series) was much smoother and had a far better feel to it.

Overalll not bad, especially for the price but disappointing compared to previous titles in the series. For anyone who's not played MOH before would recommend buying MOH frontline instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good game!, 13 Dec 2004
This review is from: Medal Of Honor Rising Sun Platinum (PS2) (Video Game)
Set for the first time in the Pacific Theatre of Operations from 1941-1944, Medal of Honor Rising Sun gives players a sense of the courage it took to fight the Japanese from Pearl Harbor to the shores of the Philippine Islands. Players will assume the role of Marine Corporal Joseph Griffin, as he survives the attack on Pearl Harbor, leads the assault of Guadalcanal, and finally rescues his brother from a Japanese POW camp in the Philippines.

Armed with his wits and a variety of authentic weapons, it's up to players to stop the Japanese war machine in its tracks. Players can even team up with a friend in the all-new co-op multiplayer mode to battle the Japanese forces. Along the way, players will earn awards and medals for their meritorious service in defeating the enemy.

As with the original Medal of Honor, the producers sought council from numerous outside sources to make certain the game is as historically authentic and realistic as possible and EA continues to work closely with the Congressional Medal of Honor Society to ensure Medal of Honor Rising Sun reflects the ideals and integrity of the prestigious Medal of Honor. In addition, Capt. Dale Dye, who served as military technical advisor on the previous titles in the Medal of Honor franchise, continues his efforts with the Medal of Honor Rising Sun team to ensure the authenticity of the game.
