Medal of Honor: Rising Sun (GameCube)

Where do I begin on this huge disappointment of a game? When looking for a decent game to keep me occupied over the Christmas hols I saw this game. Immediately basing my opinion on the previous Medal of Honor game "Allied Assualt" and having read no reviews on the game i foolishly sent £30 down the drain for this insult to war games. Initally the game seems OK as you fight alongside your fellow shipmates shooting down enemy planes at Pearl Harbour. Firstly when i noted the planes seemed to burst into flames with 1 bullet (seriously) i begain to get suspicious. However, after the first two levels the whole game seems to just go down hill. The whole sense of an actual war going on is completely abandoned and you are sent off on random missions and you get the feeling EA are just mocking you. The whole game basically has 1 path, with maybe a sudden spark of imagination as theres a 'secret' path which leads straight back to the original about 20 seconds later. Most missions seem to be accomplished by pressing A (ooo challenging) and there seems to be a set routine to mounted machine-guns, you take control of it, some enemies run at you, and die, then you move on... Controlling nearly every weapon puts you on the verge of wanting to just punch the troops on the screen with your hand. By the time you've turned around you could probably have done something useful like do an english essay but increasing sensitivity simply makes aiming even harder, if that's possible. Again, i cannot stress the unwarlike feel to the game, at one point i felt like crying as i actually saw an elephant which had to be used to go throught the jungle (yes, an elephant). Having snipers hiding in trees who seem to be using rifles with some kind of automiss device seem to be a pathetic attempt at making the player interestied. Computer teammates seem incapable of shooting at a target and will happily occupy themselves shooting tree trunks making it seem like they're doing something. The special effects in this game leave a lot to be desired and the multiplayer gives the impression that the USA and Japan have decided to play with their troops and sent them to duel with each other one by one for a laugh, a war with two people simply doesnt work. I'm getting bored now as there is only so much i can say about this game before i start feeling depressed. Basically the game is too short (i finished it in 3 days on hard without playing more than about 2 hours a day), too easy and makes me wish i had never seen the game in the shop. This was such an anti-climax when i first played it and even with two discs the game is truly the worst game i've ever played, even worse than yoshi's story on the N64 which actually took me longer to complete believe it or not. Please for the love of all that is good in the world do not buy this game, you will regret it for the rest of your life.

This game is ok for a while but soon becomes repetetive and is not as good as other Medal of Honor games. I would have given it 2 and a half stars but i couldnt. The reason that i gave this game as high as i did is that the multiplayer is quite good. But if you want to buy you first Medal of Honor game do not get this as it will not give you a good impression of the series.

Don't spend your hard earned money on this game - it's ok...but the graphics are not as good as frontline and once you've completed it (you will, quickly) there's not much - you won't want to play it on single player again as the gameplay is simply get to a machine gun, a wave of japanese attack you, you kill them easily, and repeat process - soon gets very boring.
Don't buy this one, buy Frontline, it is a hundred times better.
