The cable release came locked on: this took me by surprise but, if you turn the locking ring, it releases. It works perfectly, although I would not trust the locking ring to survive if used a lot: actually, the only time you would need it is when you use the bulb (B) setting, which is rare for most people and only a few digital cameras have a thread for a cable release, anyway. So, why buy it: well, my X-E1 has a thread and a cable release is much cheaper than the Fuji R-80 electronic version. In theory, there is nothing to go wrong with a cable release as it is a very simple mechanism, but they are less commonly used and nowadays, not made by the quality camera manufacturers as they once were. However, this one works well and goes nicely with the retro looks of the camera: nothing to complain about, so 5 stars,

This is a good value cable release that functions but I would not expect it to last a long time with hard use. Nevertheless for the price it is excellent and does what it should

Fell to bits after a few uses, if you want something that you're never going to use except in case of extreme emergencies then this is ok, but if you use it more than once or twice something will fall off it. The thumb knob fell off mine and I didn't notice it, ow!

Takes a little time to figure out just how this resets after taking a shot, but now works well.
