Product Description

Death awaits the curious!

Out along the rim of the galaxy hangs a loose configuration of some sixty stars known as the Faustian Chain. This whorl of sparkling suns is rich in planets and occupies an irregular volume of space some twenty lightyears in diameter. From an external viewpoint, the Chain presents a colorful display of plasma-streams, luminous nebulae and sparkling pinpoints of light.

The human colonists who settled the Chain were aware the region had recently been populated by other species--beings that had all but vanished after waging devastating wars thousands of years in the past. Little was known of them, but certain areas in which their artifacts still persisted were proscribed by interstellar law....

MECH ZERO is a novella (about 60 pages long) by bestselling author B. V. Larson. Set at the beginning of the Imperium Series, this story is a prequel to the outbreak of war. The series involves early human colonies in a region of space previously occupied by a vicious alien species.

5.0 out of 5 stars More awesome SciFi 6 July 2013

This whole series is brilliant. The titles make no sense (what is the Mech all about?!) a better name would be 'A bit like Starcraft Book 1" for example! Either way, it's a great story.

My one complaint - as with a lot of Kindle titles - there are a lot of typos, missing words etc etc. Really. There are. Maybe there are even a few in the 'read it now' part - see for yourself. But it's not a big issue in the great scheme of things. I just think the author needs to sack his editor/proof-reader and get me to do it for them.

Creative premise to the story and it always keeps you wanting to read the next page. I read most on B.V.s stuff now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable addition to the series 25 April 2012

I found this, as with the others, to be an enjoyable read. The story doesn't link in with the rest other than it's the same race of aliens involved (which was only a very minor disappointment) and whilst it was short it was still value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wierdo Aliens 6 Mar 2012

I love these MECH books.

You need to read at least MECH 1 before reading this one. As with all the MECH books this was a fun but short read with stupid humans and wierdo aliens, laughed out loud a couple of times reading this.

Heres the plot - a space battle between planets. A world of hippies against a world of over privaliged, genetically enhanced, facists. Throw in a malevolent, scheming, long lost, armour plated alien to mix it up a bit.

Fun Fun Fun

Excellent! I've read the first two installments of the Imperium Series and this does not disappoint. Granted its a short novella, but its a fine read none the less. I'm a big fan of all B.V. Larson's science fiction and I can't wait for Mech 3!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Edition to the Series! 9 May 2012
By Kathy E. - Published on

This is a prequel to the Mech series. As it does not require you to be familiar with the series, I recommend this novella to new comers. However, I strongly recommend this series (Mech 1: The Parent, Mech 2: The Savant and Mech 3: The Empress).

This series has never disappointed me and has always delivered the high entertainment I seek. This fantastic novella packed a lot of wallop of a story in only 57 pages. The authored cover all basis in this story, which was short but well written and flowed smoothly. Hopefully there will be more Imperium mischief to come beyond Mech 1-3.

I highly recommend this novella and series to fellow SF readers and also recommend to fellow dark urban fantasy readers who are looking for a good space opera but do not want to end up with a space romance.

If you're looking for a quick read, this book continues with the Mech series. Frankly it felt like it was almost an afterthought to write it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent series 21 Oct 2012

I have read all of these books and they are some excellent Sci-Fi, Space Opera, whatever. Well worth the prices and a lot of entertainment, and diversion from whatever life troubles you have. I see many people complain about bad grammar and puncuation in these less expensive books. Come on, puh-lease, they are great fun and if it bothers you so much, there are many big name authors with books out you can freely spend your many dollars on to spare your sensibilities. So please just chill with those complaints.
