The instructions to create the helicopter, car, plane, tower etc are complex enough to give me problems so my 4 year old was completely lost by them. However, he had great fun putting some bits together with the screwdriver and spanner before adding wheels for a 'car'. Although not traditional the plastic pieces make much more sense for younger children than metal which can be sharp if broken.
The box and the amount of bits you get are more than enough to mess about with. In fact, in our case, 150 parts is overkill.
Still great fun and, if we can keep the bits together, something to play with for a few years.

This is at a pretty reasonable price but I would suggest suitable for children say eight and over. Younger children are unlikely to understand the plans and even older ones are likely to need adult help.

My one serious gripe with this and the metal variants of Meccano is that anything that is supposed to move, results in bolts coming loose and the whole structure collapsing. Our five year old grandson quickly loses interest as bits drop off things we have made.

A great concept which just isn't fully thought through by the manufacturers.

Good fun for all family.
Very good value as it comes with a nice bucked to store all the bits and is larger to store more as well.
Complicated models: it took me 20 min to assemble the motorcycle (and I am over 30 yrs old and working in engineering domain :))
It was a little difficult for my 4.5 yrs old daughter but she is learning how to build now.
I think that this type of toy would be better for a 6 yrs old child.
I purchased this set + the electrical one as well so I can make different toys.
