I'm a big Tintin fan a was really looking forward to making this model and displaying it.
Overall I like the model and it does look good (after some tweeks and if you don't look to closely) but I am very disappointed with the quality of parts. The yellow paint on many pieces had already separated from the the metal, and when you do up the nuts & bolts they tend to tear the paint aswell.
I found the design to be very poor with some parts almost impossible to fit. The assembly of the sides of the plane invlove using a straight and curved piece that overlap, then inserting a long bolt through one of the holes in the straight piece, but the hole is partly covered by the curved piece and and I had to really force it to get it through.
There was also a small part missing. I guess it is possible I lost this piece, but I am quite experienced at making models and was very careful to keep all the pieces in the box.
I also found the alignment of some parts mystifying, with the wings being offset from the pontoon legs (onto which the struts mount), which resulted in the struts that support the wings being curved, which looked terrible. I was able to improve this by changing the direction of the pieces that the struts fit into, but it is still no great.
The instructions were quite good, but required lots of bolts being fitted in tight locations that could have been easily avoided by putting the pieces together in a different order.
So, overall a dissapointing product, that seems to have been rushed in design, and using poor parts, just to cash in on the Tintin brand.
