Product Description

Product Description

My family of four consists of two vegetarians and two carnivores. As a busy but conscientious mum, juggling family and career, I searched high and low for a book that would show me how to adapt our favourite family recipes to provide a meat and a vegetarian version of the same meal, without having to trawl around specialist health food shops or cook two separate dishes each day. I couldn't find the book I needed so I decided to write one.

From the Author

'Meat and Two Veggies' contains over 150 classic recipes from
countries all over the world with an easy vegetarian alternative. The
recipes are quick and simple to prepare using ingredients that can be found
in your local high street shops and supermarkets. More than ever we are
becoming aware of how important it is to eat healthily whether vegetarian
or not. The 'Meat and Two Veggies' cookery book shows you to fit healthy
eating into your family lifestyle. You do not need to be a superfit yoga
guru subsisting on juiced alfalfa grass to eat healthily. You and your
family can enjoy delicious and nutritious food from the breakfast, lunch
and main meal menus and be confident that you are following current
nutritional guidelines. The book also contains helpful advice for cooks who
are unused to cooking for vegetarians including nutritional advice, cooking
methods and ingredients. I hope that you enjoy using the book as much as I
enjoyed writing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars just what i needed, 27 Oct 2009

A great book from cover to cover. Whether you want a quick breakfast of a special occasion meal for a family with both meat eaters and veggies this is the book for you. Healthy menus and 4 week plan and handy shopping list. I am a working mum and found it a great help when trying to provide healthy meals for my mixed eaters.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 9 April 2009
By P. Hardy - See all my reviews

I bought this book hoping for some practical help in cooking for vegetarians and carnovores sitting down to eat together. I didn't find it particularly helpful as ready made "alternatives for meat" eg quorn fillets, vegetarian bacon or vegetarian sausages, were often used. Many vegetarians wouldn't use these and in any case most people could logically work out how to cook ready made sausages and vegetarian sausages with mash without instructions. A lovely idea but doesn't really work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 24 April 2009

I have longed to find a book like this for ages. As a veggie dating a carnivore, this seemed like the perfect solution to our dining dilemas!
I was so disappointed to find that practically ever recipe detailed how the meat element of the meal should be replaced with soya/ tofu. This is hardly imaginative recipe creation. As a vegetarian who hates tofu - this book is practically useless to me.
