Product Description

Product Description

In this book, two experienced researchers into prehistoric culture have made a remarkable breakthrough in understanding the system by which prehistoric monuments were designed and placed on the landscape. This system, a precision geodetic science, enabled the megalith builders to mark out vast geometric shapes across the landscapes. At key points they erected their magnificent stone temples and markers, whose dimensions and locations encoded their knowledge of the Earth and sky. Key Points: Prehistoric Britons knew the dimensions of the Earth and had undertaken an accurate survey of the British Isles, pre-3000 BC; The major time periods of the Sun and Moon were encoded within their monuments, measures and system of land surveying; This prehistoric system was still being applied in the Middle Ages, and remnants survive today as the English Foot, Nautical Mile and Knot.

Ban the metric metre! 12 Dec 2006
Two great mathematical minds join to discover and reveal the most startling evidence that, long before Thales, ancient Britons were using sophisticated mathematics on the most incredible scale. It is foolish to dismiss the evidence as coincidence, as foolish as using a system of measure based on light-waves! Does anyone have a suitable laboratory, where I may check my metre?! I sense we were once much cleverer than now and a science of incredible importance has been lost, but here is a great step toward its recovery. It may be a while before my jaw returns from the floor!

This is a book of sacred geometry that truly 'brings Heaven to Earth', revealing the exquisite mathematical patterns inherent in things familiar and not-so-familiar. The reader is treated to a marvellous Odyssey that takes in the prehistoric cultures of Britain and elsewhere, showing how the roots of our non-metric systems of measurement lie in these deep origins. There is also fascinating material on Stonehenge and Avebury, in terms of geodetic lines and the 52nd degree of latitude, and other themes. If only maths and science were taught like this! A must read.
