Product Description

Cantankerous spinster Ivy Beasley has quickly learned that spending her golden years in the quaint village of Barrington won't be as quiet as she thought. Ivy hasn't been the old people's home at Springfields for long, but she's already found new friends, formed a detective agency and solved a murder. And as autumn falls, Ivy and her team are asked to investigate a mysterious death in the village of Measby - in between card games, of course.

Village mystery 14 Jun 2011
By Damaskcat TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Ivy and Roy are hoping their informal private investigation agency can start work on another case when Gus gets a call from a former colleague asking him to look into an apparent suicide in the village of Measby on the other side of Suffolk. Then a new inmate of the Springfields retirement home, Alwen Wilson Jones, says she has been the victim of a fraud and has lost twenty thousand pounds.

When Enquire Within offer to investigate she suddenly announces the money has been returned and seem reluctant to talk about it. Naturally this arouses their curiosity and along with Ivy's cousin Deidre they decide to try and investigate as Alwen's missing money seems as though it may have some connection with the death in Measby which also seems to have involved financial wrong doing.

This is an interesting and enjoyable read - the second in the Ivy Beasley series. There are some memorable characters and an interesting and exciting plot. If you like crime novels with believable, and at times amusing dialogue, eccentric characters and a village setting then this series could be for you. The first book in the series is this one The Hangman's Row Enquiry (Ivy Beasley)

Village Life !!!! 17 Sep 2011
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I bought this as I wanted a light read on a long plane trip, something I thought if I didnt finish I wouldnt care ...WRONG...instead it started me searching for earlier books, I have managed to obtain the whole series and throughly enjoyed it even to preordering her next book. Yes it is a light book and a little improbable in parts, like Midsomer Murders there are village undercurrents that fester and boil over into murder and mayhem at times but the characters are delightful and you quickly become enmeshed in the family and village life....guess most of us like a good gossip if we are honest and I can imagine myself at the WI and the village shop avidly listening to the latest scandal etc!!!!!

By Mrs. V. Bradley VINE™ VOICE
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have been a fan of Ann Purser's books for many years and I can honestly say I have never once been disappointed. The Measby Murder Enquiry has it all - murder (of course), mayhem, kidnapping, blackmail, and an unexpected love interest. Springfields assisted living home, and the Enquire Within detective agency, will never again be quite the same. At one point the Enquire Within members almost get their fingers burnt and even consider giving up this particular case. There are both touching and amusing moments aplenty. I eagerly await the next title in this series - I just hope it won't be too long in coming.
