Product Description

Product Description

We spend much of our waking time working, but sadly, most people are disappointed with what they do. In this book Nicholas Ind asks why we get bored and frustrated with our jobs and then suggests the attitudes and behaviour we should adopt to find fulfilment. Drawing on ideas from philosophy and business practice and illustrated with references to films, art and literature, Ind shows that people can find meaning if they engage with their jobs, challenge themselves to be open to the ideas of others and take an active part in shaping their organisations. Using interviews with artists, academics, film and theatre directors, entrepreneurs and business managers as inspiration, Ind demonstrates how we can realise our potential as individuals and make the organisations of which we are part, more successful. Whether you are a leader of an organisation, an employee, a student or about to start work, this book provides a rich source of ideas.

Nick Ind is a prolific and impressive writer who blends the common sense world of down to earth business with a sharp intellect. His latest book 'The Meaning of Work' does not disappoint. It is well worth a read regardless of the position you hold in the workplace as he unravels the myths of why we all go to work and really quite enjoy it. His pithy remarks are neatly disguised by his well thought out arguments and the conclusions all too obvious to us ground down members of the rat race. A cracking book that once more shows that Nick Ind is one of the leading business writers and thinkers of his generation.
