This is a cracking book about a little boy who likes to make things but they never turn out how he planned. Every time he sets out to build one thing it turns into something quite different. My boys (3&6) think it's very funny so see the various things the little boy ends up with, particularly the end result of his bi-plane kit: a woolly mammoth. With the mammoth, the boy flies to the Arctic and attempts to create a graceful ice sculpture. Obviously it doesn't turn out as planned and there's more laughs for the reader. With the many new friends that the boy is collecting, he doesn't mind if his many attempts at crafts and kits turn into different things entirely. They are all part of a rich adventure, and we are left watching him build an ocean-going liner .... which ends up taking them all on an outer-space adventure. This is a great find, a brilliant story that'll make your children laugh and has a lovely message for those whose creations never turn out like the pictures in the book.
